95 Honda CivicHow much do you tighten the drain plug after draining the oil for an oil change after its snug point?
like tight maybe 1/2 a turn after its on tight but use a wrench not a rachet and just do it with one hand like say your a righty tighten it with ur left hand,u dont want to over tighten it but if u under tighten it ,then all it will do is leak oil so tighten it.make sure you take a rag and clean all around it then about 20 minz later go n check n see if its dripping oil if it is then tighten it more, also its always a good idea to either use those universal rubber plugs that you can buy at a part store becuz 9/10 times the oil pan eventually gets stripped out, depending on who does your oil change.also you should put a new washer on the oil plug everytime you change your oil and maybe use a little gasket syment like the hhigh temp orange colored kindHow much do you tighten the drain plug after draining the oil for an oil change after its snug point?
I think you better read what it says here: http://classic.artsautomotive.com/HondaO鈥?/a>
Be careful not to over-tighten the drain plug or you could have serious problems down the road. [Pun intended]
A fiber drain plug washer is better than the aluminum one that Honda uses. Just tighten it so that it doesn't leak and so that it slightly compresses the washer. Check afterward for leaks.
use the hand you tighten it with, while the other hand holds the wrench from the bolt(just place pa;m and wrench against it,and pop with the free hand once or twice.it wont even turn 1/4 inch.
