#1 it is quick. #2 they don't care if it causes you problems after you get out of their sight. #3 if it ruins draniplug, or strips out threads in pan, - it is your problem not theirs!
#4 Air impact/ratchets sound ';neat'; when you run them!
I would remember where the plug was put in that tight, and not go back there anymore! I would also give them a call and let them know you aren't too happy!!
Watch it when you have new tires put on at shop too! They love to tighten bolts so tight, - that it either breaks the studs, lug-wrench,- or you can't get them off at all, -- causing it to have to be towed to shop and taken of with an air impact/ratchet again! Best to take out in parking lot, and see if you can loosen them with lug wrench, -- if not make them loosen them and put on with lugwrench, -- so you can get them off with lugwrench! It is ';rather inconvenient'; if you have a flat, and can't get wheel off!Why do shots use air tools on oil drain plugs sometimes?
because they are concerned about quantity and not quality. i worked in the lube industry for 14 years and i know some of the ins and outs of that business. at the same time i also know many of the toque specifications for the drain plugs. if it took two people to pull that little plug out, i see one of two things being there, and one is just comical.
1) the two guys were little weaklings that could not fight there own shadow and win
2) drain plug is over torqued to the point of damaging the oil pan.
as i said the second is a more than likely possibility. do you remember where the last oil change was done. you might want to go back and have a talk with the service writter. as i said before you may have oil pan damage. i can not be sure and it does not sound like it yet, but somethings take time.
Because they don't care it's not their car...
You should take it to a different shop and ask them to not over tighten the plug. Or they make a plug that you can buy that you dont have to be taken out to drain the oil. They sell them at your local parts store. check out the source.
Because its quick. They usually over tighten them which will cause them to leak over time.
Cause their pansy's! Naw if you got em use em! Just tighten by hand.
