Where is the oil drain plug on a 98 Ford Explorer?

Like the question states I'll be changing the oil on my truck for the first time, I have done it before on other vehicles. I'm pretty sure its on mid passenger side of the engine, correct? Also what size socket do I need, a 14mm seems to have a little play on the bolt and my brother stole my 13mm, will I be ok?Where is the oil drain plug on a 98 Ford Explorer?
It all depends on the engine you have..the 4.0 sohc has a 13 mm bolt on the passenger side of the pan.. and when you pull it the oil will hit the frame and go everywhere, so be prepared for a mess unless you can deflect it.. a 14 will strip the bolt, but you may be able to get a 1/2 in on it or use a 13 mm combination wrench with another for extension..{called double wrenching} Remember righty tighty and lefty losey..

Oil is a hazardous material so please dispose of it properly..Where is the oil drain plug on a 98 Ford Explorer?
then buy a 13 mm so you dont strip the bolt and yes it is on the oil pan if ford id like gm the move the location of the plugs around a lot.

Knowing the job was done correctly..... Priceless
The plug will be located on the oil pan. It could be on either side at the bottom or at either end at the bottom. Sometimes they are on the bottom of the oil pan. Once you find the oil plug see if the 14mm socket fits the plug. If not you need to get the correct size.
